Gold (hydrogen) rush: risks and uncertainties in exploring for naturally occurring hydrogen

چکیده
Interest in hydrogen (H2) energy has exploded the last few years. Much of interest comes from transitioning to a decarbonised future, through use renewables, convert hydrogen-rich materials (methane, water) pure gas streams. Each these methods have their own challenges, such as need for carbon capture and storage manage emissions or perspectives on fresh water. At same time this engineered approach generating hydrogen, there been quiet but exponential upsurge research surrounding origins fate naturally occurring hydrogen. Sometimes referred ‘gold’ ‘white’ geological forms recognised thousands While already present H2, may exist with other gases, methane, helium, sulfide and/or nitrogen. But is it real? Is volumetrically significant, discoverable, predictable exploitable? Early work suggests that we can begin characterise potential sources depth ranges they be generated from, migration mechanisms are relevant, how might retained lost relation discovery exploitation gas. However, existing publicly available data constrained by lack analysis limited evidence. increased reports seeps containing an absence evidence more significant finds major analogues case studies date. We explore risks uncertainties provide roadmap reducing gap.

Naturally occurring ehrlichiosis in Egyptian dogs
Canine ehrlichiosis has emerged as one of the most clinically important tick-borne diseases affecting dogs. Eighty-five naturally infected dogs have been investigated, the most consistent clinical signs recorded were fever, emaciation and lymphoadenopathy, anemia, monocytosis, thrompocytopenia, hypoalbuminemia, elevation in liver enzymes and total bilirubin were the most remarkable changes asso...
متن کاملHydrogen sulfide in the mouse ductus arteriosus: a naturally occurring relaxant with potential EDHF function.
We have previously reported that bradykinin relaxes the fetal ductus arteriosus via endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor (EDHF) when other naturally occurring relaxants (prostaglandin E2, nitric oxide, and carbon monoxide) are suppressed, but the identity of the agent could not be ascertained. Here, we have examined in the mouse whether hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a relaxant of the ductus a...
متن کاملNaturally occurring genetic transfer of hydrogen-oxidizing ability between strains of Alcaligenes eutrophus.
Mutants defective in chemolithoautotrophic growth (Aut-) have been isolated from Alcaligenes eutrophus strains H16, N9A, G27, and TF93. Spontaneous Aut- mutants were obtained only with strain TF93. Mutants of the other strains were selected after conventional mutagenesis or treatment with mitomycin. Most of the mutants, including the spontaneous Aut- strains, lacked hydrogenase activity (Hox-) ...
متن کاملFractional conductance in hydrogen-embedded gold nanowires.
Interaction of the physically adsorbed molecular hydrogen with a breaking gold nanowire results in additional stable atomic configurations in few atom contacts and appearance of fractional peaks in the conductance histogram. This effect is explained by peculiar dynamic evolution of the hydrogen-embedded nanoconstriction due to competition between tensile and capillary forces. Dimerization withi...

The Gold Rush (figure 1), a 1925 classic silent movie by Chaplin, depicted him in his trademark little tramp character as a lone prospector searching for the precious metal somewhere in Alaska. On 16 November 2011, the release of the current revision of the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) Executive Summary in Shanghai, China, just recently published elsewhere, gave...
